Vivekananda vision – Mother India

When entire nation shifted its focus on Akbaruddin communal and provoking speech. Hindu new paper, mouth piece & harbinger of pseudo secular intellectuality, published an article claiming Indian nationalism is obsessed with male chauvinism as it projected Swami Vivekananda picture.

Sanjay Srivastava, professor of sociology, must have forgot about the genesis of Hindu nationalism and its association with woman, shakthi, spiritual and esoteric culmination of durga and kaali. It was Hindu nationalism which gave much priority to women.

Sanjay should remember that it was Swami Vivekananda who visioned India as mother India, Bankim viewed India as Bharat Matha and Sri Aurobindo viewed India as Bhawani Bharthi.. I could not understand how half knowledge Sanjay deliberately discarded the importance of women, shakthi, kaali and Durga..

Hindu News paper & Sanjay get well soon.

Gun culture and USA

The tragic gun firing at a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora, Colorado, USA, is an alarming signal of penetration  of  gun culture among both urban and rustic teens, through the popular forms of  Movies and Video Games.

Why USA is prone to such mindless, ruthless and dramatic gun firings, particularly by depressed teens,  since some decades, why not developing countries ?

Before analyzing the genesis of  gun culture and popular media , we must go through the genesis of Guns/Arms Manufacturing in USA Soil. It was arms and dynamites production which accelerated and championed USA economy among world super powers in the early 1920’s.  It was USA, which orchestrated nuclear race, by nuclear bombing in Japan to show its supremacy, and placed world on the brink of  volcano made up of nuclear lava.

In addition to this issues and background, the worst case is free availability of  Guns and weapons in USA. Gun licencing policy and its availability is not stringent, in fact it is free liberal, as like US economy. One can easily procure guns and arms in USA soil without having any proper examination and verification, unlike developing nations.   This incident, which may provoke another set of teens,  in turn may trigger another Colorado firing.

Anarkali & Shashi Rekha

MayaBazar_Old1957.aspx

You may wonder how far Anarkali and Shashi Rekha related as there is no connection between them at any cost .Real relation associated with them is a myth. No credible source is identified to justify Anarkali’s love with Saleem and Abhimanyu’s love with Shashi Rekha. Akbar’s son Saleem was none otherthan Jahangir who got married to “Manbhawati Bai” “Princess Manmati” “Nur Jahan” and Abhimanyu got married to Virata king daughter Uttara. Despite flaws, both the themes have been successfully commercialized by Bollywood and Tollywood production teams by delivering historical hits of “Mughal-e-azam” at Bollywood box office and “Maya Bajar” at Tollywood box office. One thing is made clear, filmy audience always adhere myths but not truths.

Sri Sri Ideology – some contemporary issues

Sri Sri aka Sri Rangam Srinivasa Rao, the most sensational poet who heralded the Marxist aesthetic thought in Telugu literature, has made indelible impression among the modern Telugu writers. But, interestingly,  very  few modern writers have tried to project the Sri Sri  legacy in contemporary main stream media.

In this work, I have tried to explain Sri Sri Ideology on some contemporary social issues and the controversies.

Sri Sri, unlike Chalam, could not try to project the problems of Indian women in his articles and books. Some literary experts opine, Sri Sri has made some  derogatory remarks on women in his autobiography.   Interestingly, Chalam, a women lover, made  a great impact on feminist writers and  dalit writers than Sri Sri works.

But, Chalam, another great social  revolutionary writer who fought against male chauvinism,  casteism and religious fundamentalism, later found solace in the companionship of  great mystic Ramana Maharshi. He gave up revolutionary writing and settled in Tiruvannamalai, abode of Ramana Maharshi spiritual empire.  His later life irked some feminists and communist writers who used to  treat Chalam as a great revolutionary writer on par with Sri Sri. Chalam retirement from revolutionary writing and baptism of spirituality   made Sri Sri as the only champion of modern Telugu revolutionary writing. But, still, Telugu feminist writers have no qualms to  hail the contribution of Chalam who  projected the true picture of women and societal hypocrisy.

Sri Sri was the founder president of  Virasam (viplava rachayithala sangham), a revolutionary poets organization which split from Arasam ( abyudaya rachayithala sangam) due to the great debate among  revolutionary progressive writers. Arasam supports communistic socialism while Virasam supports the revolutionary communism. Though Sri Sri was actively participated in Virasam, he could not upheld Virasam stand of  supporting ‘Telangana’ and ‘Jai Andhra movements’. Some Telangana poets allege,  Sri Sri was timid to  injustice done to the Telangana people.

Another criticism on Sri Sri is his staunch support to the emergency rule of Indira gandhi. He wrote several articles in praise of  Indira Gandhi and Jalagam Vengala Rao for their brutal stands to curb people social democratic movements. Some scholars opine, Sri Sri acted as a traditional Indian communist but not as a universal communist of Marx legacy. Like typical Indian communist parties, Sri Sri may have done historical blunders. But, his stand on emergency is a blot on his marathon revolutionary poetic career, which cannot be deleted in history. But, we should remember, later Sri Sri regretted for his blunder.

Sri Sri, who is said to be  inspired from western communistic literature but not from Indian experiences of socialism, hardly described the essence of dalit and women empowerment in his bulk of works. Some revolutionary poets, particularly of  Telangana and Dalit origin, criticize Sri Sri writings by claiming they are for bourgeoisie, above middle class and  elite rich people but not for common people.

Sri Sri had also committed mistakes by supporting emergency in 1975, but later he had regretted this,”

–  revolutionary writer P. Varavara Rao.

Origins of “hindu”

There is no word of Hindu in sacred literature like vedas, upanishads and brahmanas..

“The word Hindu, by which it is the fashion nowadays to style ourselves, has
lost all its meaning, for this word merely meant those who lived on the
other side of the river Indus (in Sanskrit, Sindhu). This name was murdered
into Hindu by the ancient Persians, and all people living on the other side
of the river Sindhu were called by them Hindus.”

– Swami Vivekananda in Lectures from Colombo to Almora

With the arrival of Britishers, Hinduism emerged as synonym for Sanathana Dharma..

Hinduism/Sanathana dharma is not a single religion unlike Abrahamic faiths. It is a mixture of various contradictory religions, faiths, schools and views of Shaiva, Vaishnava, Shaktha, Yoga, Smarta and Vedanta..

It is not a single rigid religion, it is a civilization..

History, Philosophy

Why hitler adopted ‘swastika’, symbol of sanathana dharma?

Swastika is the symbol for aryan race and sanathana dharma..

All the dharmic religions like Hinduism, Buddhism,Jainism use swastika as an important symbol for their religion and culture..

There is a wide debate in Indian historians whether Aryans are domestic/ invaders from europeans. Hitler believed that Aryans and German are from same descent..

Hitler, who claims himself from Aryan race, adopted swastika as their symbol in 1920..

The reason behind his strong adoption of swastika is his reluctance towards Christianity, Judaism. He used to stress German race is aryan and quite different from other European races..

It was Nostradamus who speculated in 16th century that a new leader could dominate the world, most probably from non abrahamic religion.

Friedrich Nietzsche, famous German philosopher, coined a new word called “over man” “super man” claiming a new world leader is going to emerge.. Christian missionaries called that person as anti christ.

Christian missionaries and Abrahamic religions were shocked with the strong writings of Nietzsche and his vision of anti christ..

Hitler tried to identify himself as anti christ/super man/over man. He started the recitation of aryan race claiming germans are aryans and they are superior than other European races..

Kancha Ilaiah- Dalit Idealogue

kancha Ilaiah, Professor of political science of Osmania University, is considered as as part of influential trinity(Kancha Ilaiah,Bojja Taarakam and Katti Padma rao) who strive progressive Dalit movement and politics in Andhra Pradesh. There is a wide belief among general public that Kancha Ilaiah has dalit background but he hailed from OBC of “Golla” caste. Despite his scholarly experience in political science, he came to lime light with historical research papers and strong criticisms on Brahmanism, higher castes and Hindus. He is enough proud to consider himself as anti Hindu. He baptized Buddhism and wrote several research papers on buddhist history and philosophy.

His famous work “why iam not a hindu” acclaimed positive and negative responses from intellectual and scholars from different parts of the world. Some eminent historians like Romilla Thapar tagged Ilaiah as a pseudo historian who approached several fictions to dalit history and thoughts. According to Ilaiah, Hinduism is nothing but a Brahmanism which done a massive cultural destruction of backward classes and dalits. He urges for the need of literacy among dalits and backword classes.Being a Dalit sympathizer, He staunchly supports the candidacy of Mayawathi for prime minister of India by calling Marxists to support her. ” Hindusim is the only religion in which gods wear destructible weapons and tries to justify the bloody violence” says Kancha ilaiah in several interviews.

Gandhism and its legacy

Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, most popular name of modern India and also refer as a Father of Nation, made indelible impression among millions of Indians with his weapons of non violence and truth. I have read his autobiography which was written in excellent english and signifies his writing capabilities. It was ” Lage raho Ho Munna Bhai” revived the essence of Gandhism and non violence at this very age of violence.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar on 2 October 1869 in Hindu Modh community. His father was the diwan (Prime Minister) of the eponymous Porbander state. At the age of 13 Mohandas was married to 14-year old Kasturbai in traditional arranged marriage. Later, he moved to England for the completion of Law. Later came back to India and left for south Africa for practicing Law. Gandhiji was actively participated in the Civil rights movement in South Africa for the protection of Indians and black’s rights. Gandhi had been inspired by American Henry Thoreau civil disobedience movement and made a great mark.

Gandhiji arrived India at 1915 and is said to be avid follower of Gokhale, famous congress moderate. We should observe the structure of congress party before Gandhi became active at mainstream politics. Extremist wing comprises Tilak, B.C Pal, Lajapath rai, Sri Aurobindo were the leading forces of Indian freedom struggle. Interesting aspect is this people were highly inspired by Hindu vedanta and tried to mix the concept of Indian freedom struggle with Mystified vedanta. There was a crisis between moderates and extremists whether to opt violence or non violence for the congress party stand in liberation of India. After political retirement of Sri Aurobindo, Tilak’s incarceration at Burma weakened Extremists attempts.

Gandhiji captured congress and implemented strategies in a non violent methods and he was succeeded for getting freedom for India. But Gandhiji’s attitude towards Bhagat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose and Ambedkar are enough controversial in Indian history. Historians opine, Gandhiji could have escape Bhagat Singh from hanged to death by negotiating with Britishers. Mild response observed among congress moderates even after the brutal death of Bhagath Singh and desecration to his body by the tyranny Britishers. Subash chandra Bose was elected as Indian National Congress president in 1939 tripura session by defeating Pattabi Seeta Ramayya who was supported by Gandhi and Nehru with a huge margin. Congress seniors and Gandhian supporters were reluctant to extend co operation to Netaji. Netaji had to quit office and from presidentship of INC. Later Netaji resigned from congress and fled away to Japan via Germany in a miraculous heroic escape. Gandhiji even called parents not to send their children for the recruitment of Netaji’s INA  (Indian National Army). Despite having ideological difference with Gandhi, Netaji didn’t hesitate to praise the heroism and credibility of Gandhi by referring him as a “MAHATMA” in radio  which used to broadcast from Germany.
